WMEA Purpose
  • Foster the growth and development of Marketing Education.
  • Encourage and support the professional development of marketing educators.
  • Encourage understanding of and support for Marketing Education.
  • Recognize outstanding educators of Marketing Education.
  • Maintain an efficient and effective Marketing Education Association that supports its members professionally.

The History of WMEA and Marketing Education in Wisconsin

Wisconsin Association of Distributive Education (now WMEA) was organized at Green Lake, Wisconsin, on August 26, 1965, during Professional Growth Week.  This organization's main objectives were:
        - To establish a communications link among marketing educators around the state
        - To obtain a voice in WAVAE (Wisconsin Association of Vocational and Adult Educators)
        - To provide marketing educators with a unified voice in curriculum development
        - To promote Distributive Education at the post secondary level
        - To promote worthwhile Distributive Education at state level.  

The first constitution was adopted at the WAVAE convention in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, May 1966.  The organizing group totaled 13.  

​The first officers elected were:
       President:  Robert Duxstad
       Vice President:  Karl Holbrook
       Secretary-Treasurer:  O. B. Henkel
       Historian:  Ken Mills
